North Projects Continues Antarctic Partnership with Macquarie Island Station Appointment

North Projects is proud to announce our continued engagement with the Australian Antarctic Division, having been awarded the Cost Planner contract for the Macquarie Island Station Project. This appointment builds on our ongoing involvement across Australia’s Antarctic infrastructure program and reflects our experience delivering cost advisory services in highly complex and remote environments.

The Macquarie Island Station Project will construct a new, purpose-built research station to replace ageing infrastructure. This will improve safety, resilience, and efficiency by reducing WHS risks, operational disruptions, maintenance demands, and exposure to natural hazards and climate change, while enhancing expeditioner wellbeing and reducing the overall station footprint. Located on a UNESCO World Heritage–listed site, the station plays a critical role in global scientific, environmental, and climate monitoring, supporting Australia’s long term research capability and international commitments.

As Cost Planner, North Projects will support the project from early planning through to delivery, providing cost planning and cost management advice to inform decision making and support successful project outcomes. This appointment builds on our proven track record having previously been involved with the Australian Antarctic Division, across the Antarctic Infrastructure Renewal Program and station master planning works at Casey, Davis, and Mawson stations.

“Our continued work with the Australian Antarctic Division reflects our delivery of consistent, high quality advice across some of the most challenging environments in the world. These projects are critical to Australia’s scientific future, and we’re proud to support their successful delivery,” said Tim Hogg, CEO of North Projects.

Jason D’Antonio, Executive Director SA/NZ, added: “Macquarie Island presents a unique set of logistical and environmental challenges. Our team brings a deep understanding of cost planning in remote locations, ensuring the project is supported by robust, transparent, and well informed advice from the outset.”
