Transmission Gully – North Projects goes International

This consists of four interchanges and two new link roads which will connect the route to Mackays, SH58, eastern Porirua, and Kenepuru. Partnering with our client CPB HEB Joint Venture, North plays a crucial role in ensuring the Design and Construction phase of the project is completed and handed over in accordance with the stringent contract requirements for Works Completion.

Large-scale earthworks are required during the construction of the project with 25 new structures equating to a total length of more than a kilometre are to be constructed along the route. The largest of these, the Cannons Creek Bridge, will stretch 230 metres in length and sit 60 metres above the valley floor.

The Transmission Gully motorway is valued at $850 million and is being delivered as a Public Private Partnership (PPP) by Wellington Gateway Partnership in partnership with the New Zealand government. A key part of the Wellington Northern Corridor, the project is one of the most significant single pieces of new road construction in the lower North Island. This is an important part of the Wellington region’s transport infrastructure initiatives designed to ease congestion and support economic growth for decades to come.

The Transmission Gully motorway is scheduled to be open for traffic in 2020.
