The Casey Hospital Expansion Project delivered major enhancements to the existing facility, increasing capacity and improving the quality of care for the growing Casey community. The expansion includes 128 new acute multi-day beds across four inpatient units, 12 intensive care beds, and six operating theatres—four new and two relocated—supported by a new day surgery unit and expanded recovery areas.
Upgrades also include a reconfigured Emergency Short Stay Unit, relocated CSSD, and improved Pharmacy, Pathology, and support services. Complementary works feature new education and training spaces, a refurbished hospital entry, relocated café, additional parking, integrated infrastructure, and sustainable design solutions.
The project also encompasses demolition and reconfiguration of the existing Mental Health ELMS area and external entry, creating a more connected, efficient, and patient-focused environment.

North was appointed as the Independent Reviewer (IR) and Sub-Independent Reviewer (Sub-IR) for the project, providing impartial oversight and assurance throughout delivery.
As IR, North assessed Project Co’s readiness for Completion, certifying key milestones and Technical Completion under the Project Agreement. In the Sub-IR role, we evaluated the D&C Contractor’s performance against contractual obligations, certifying milestones, Technical Completion, and Commercial Acceptance in alignment with the Independent Reviewer’s determinations.
Through both roles, North delivered independent, technically rigorous oversight to ensure compliance, transparency, and successful project completion.
