Powerlink, in collaboration with Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG), Shell’s QGC (QCLNG), and Gladstone LNG (GLNG), has successfully delivered the Curtis Island Connection Project—a critical initiative supporting the electrification of Curtis Island’s operational liquefied natural gas (LNG) facilities.

Building on the completion of major LNG programs on the island, the project extends Powerlink’s 275kV network from the Larcom Creek Substation through new transmission lines to the Targinnie North 275kV Switchyard, with an overhead-to-underground transition point at Fisherman’s Landing. From there, underground 275kV cables cross the channel to a new switchyard on Curtis Island—strengthening the energy link that underpins one of Queensland’s most significant industrial precincts.
