The Northern Water project aims to provide a new, climate independent water source for the Far North, Upper Spencer Gulf and Eastern Eyre Peninsula Regions of South Australia to support emerging green manufacturing and expanding clean energy industries.

North was engaged to assess value for money, explore alternative solutions, and support the development of a robust business case for investment. Our role included detailed cost estimation for optioneering studies across various pipe materials, configurations, and capacities of the desalination plant and associated pump stations. We also verified third-party project budgets to provide assurance around cost accuracy and value alignment. In addition, North conducted comprehensive risk assessments linked to cost surety, ensuring the client had full confidence in the project’s financial integrity and strategic justification.
