The Port of Melbourne’s Capital Works and Asset Remediation Portfolio is centred on the multi-year Swanson Dock West Remediation Project — a critical initiative to ensure the terminal’s long-term safety, operational efficiency, and fitness for purpose throughout the Port Lease period. The extensive remediation works encompass new pile installation, deck demolition and reconstruction, seaside and landside rail replacement, fender and transverse beam restoration, deck remediation (both soffit and top), cathodic protection, and utility upgrades.

Services Provided

North was commissioned to provide pre-contract commercial advisory services, including budget development and tender evaluation. Throughout the remediation works, careful consideration was given to the existing asset conditions, the management of contaminated materials and asbestos, and the design of complex temporary works required to enable safe and effective remediation.
