Victoria’s energy system is changing. Coal-fired power stations are becoming unreliable and retiring faster than expected. There is an urgency to change the current power grid to carry energy from new renewable sources and batteries across the state to Victorian homes, businesses, hospitals, schools, and other vital services. VicGrid, established by the Victorian Government in 2021, is working to make sure this change delivers the safe, reliable, and affordable power Victoria needs to keep the lights on. VicGrid is actively coordinating the planning and development of Victoria’s Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) and Transmission Infrastructure to support the transition to renewable energy.
This project requires the delivery of a program of energy projects across Victoria. These projects vary in size and complexity from minor changes to significant amendments to the energy transmission network.
As well as working on transmission projects, North will also support the development and implementation of the new Victorian Transmission Investment Framework (VTIF), a new framework that will deliver a long-term strategic plan for renewable energy and transmission infrastructure in our state. The first Victorian Transmission Plan (VTP) will be published in mid-2025 and will take a 15-year view of transmission infrastructure and renewable energy zone development in Victoria.
Services Provided
North has been appointed as VicGrid’s sole provider of Project Cost and Controls Services (PCCS), supporting the critical transformation of Victoria’s energy system. Through our expertise in estimating, cost control, and scheduling, we are directly contributing to the delivery of Renewable Energy Zones (REZ) and transmission infrastructure projects — aligning with VicGrid’s vision for a secure, sustainable energy future.
